birds and things

this is just a remainder of my last week of sunny days. i think it's rainy/cloudy now, though i haven't been out yet to see how cold.
i'm also trying hard not to think or talk about the main thing that keeps me busy these days: the looking for a room. apart from that, what happens is only:
- eating out: i am still like a tourist, picking out my small cafes/bistros according to the neighbourhood i happen to be in around lunch or dinner time. so i'm basically eating better than if i had a proper home, but this will have to stop at some point.
-discovering new shops: new places that sell shoes, mostly. i swear this will become my new area of expertise. plaza st hubert is a very good place for this so i don't even have to wander far.
apart from the shoe business, there's a new...something i hadn't seen last year here: a community second-hand chain called 'renaissance'. so far i saw a good bookstore they have on mont-royal (all books at 2.50 and 3.50, with an okay shelf of selections from english) and a friperie at plaza st hubert (with mostly cheap dishes/crockery/even some furniture that i fantasized about buying for my new place, when i have a new place, that is.)
so, not yet.
the order of action is: apartment. then boots. then dishes/stuff for the home. then i dunno, more clothes .

till then, from my visits in the plateau and rosemont:

this is the building where my friend caro lives, where i was dreaming of living someday.

and the street, which is a 'ruelle verte'. very nice and also close to where i used to live last year.

this is caro's community garden (not hers, but the place she has a plot in), farther east towards hochelaga, but still an okay area.

caro, and question of the day: how close do you have to look to see that she's 8 months pregnant?  sitting down , with a bag on her knees or something, she would fool anyone, i think.

this must be on duluth, just off st-laurent. i think wall art varies by neighbourhood, but  i'm still  too unfocused to distinguish patterns.

"this is mine." really. i'd seen this girl in a photo before i even visited montreal. duluth/hotel de ville, i think? they must be retouching her every year maybe or so, i don't recall whether she had purple hair the last time i saw her. what i know is that the small window that looks like her earring is made out of stained glass; and that through the big window you can see a bookcase (at night, when light are on), so it looks like her head is filled with books.

these particular red vines are creeping over everything and are very picturesque. sort of like the squirrels of the vegetal world.
the entrance to this little house (in villeray) was sooo charming, even if it doesn't translate well in the picture.
who put these ravens in plaza st hubert? and especially, why? any 'game of thrones' fans dans la municipalité?
lol, so montreal.

continuing to be disappointed with the quality of image. you can't even envision just from this picture how turqouise that towerlet really is. an amzing contrast to the blue of the sky. maybe i have to go now and take another pic on a cloudy day, i bet that'll work.
lots of good swing sets. this one is in the small parc on mt-royal, close to my former home. one of the about 4 swings that i've swung on these days.
what else? is it okay to be overly sentimental at being recognized by a worker at a pizza place in atwater mall, after 1 and a half years of absence? or should i lump it in the balance with not being able to meet 3 out of 5 people i was definitely-supposed-to-meet, after almost 10 days here? it's all part of the same thing in the end, the same different planet.
