how clueless am i about weddings

let me count the ways.
weddings have been rare and disturbing events in my life so far. marriage is an important decision and i´m trying to respect its importance - but having a wedding is a completely different type of social...thingie. having assisted to about 4 weddings over the last 10 years, i simply do not know the protocol.
1. venue, food, bride´s dress and assorted stuff
i have no strong preference. once i´m at the wedding, everything´s the same to me and there has been no disaster i recall. if i don´t like something i don´t touch it...there´s usually enough food to go around. there´s chairs to sit on. visually interesting things. i will judge some of it, but i´m not involved in judging.
(shorter carmen: weddings are traditionally perceived as chores. but we all know once you´re there it´s normally fun. hmmmm.)
2. rules re: dress and make-up.
i am just trying to be decent. usually a quick judgmental look around convinces me that either a) decency is optional , or b) decency is relative. i lean strongly b). i have to remind myself not to worry.
rewind on that: it took long convo-arguments with my mum (re: appropriate length of dress), trying on various heels, picking and choosing jewelry days before, surprise-borrowing a belt etc etc for this ¨just trying to be decent¨ to take shape.

favourite memories of the wedding weekend:
- waiting to be picked up for the car ride (cluj-oradea) with giulia all made up
- bickering and complaining while dressing up - ¨we are exactly THOSE stereotypes of girls¨- yep.
-  me using my birthday (!) as a pretext to drink lots of champagne in a pretty silly manner.
- the ¨vintage photo¨ sessions in the entrance hall, on the armchairs.
- going back to change in bits of folk costume
- taking a walk after dark around the wedding premises
- eating cake for breakfast because it was there
- actually getting to talk to the bride over breakfast the next day - very (and characteristically) sweet of her to make time to chat with most participants.

so, pictures now:

with sonia, at the armchair spot. (please send over the rest of the pictures, esp. black&white and sepia).

and with giulia. n.b.: i am wearing my former roommate melanie´s swing dress, which my mum thinks is terrific, and just the right thing for me. and giulia´s belt, which tops my wishlist r.n.

trying and not really managing to ¨capture atmoshpere¨.

fruit and drinks free bar.

...lol?...

ramo, the bride. i refrained from asking her to pose, cause she had other stuff to deal with at the time. this stands as apology for quality of picture.

very blurry first dance, just so some of you can admire the entirety of the dress.

sonia and giulia, walk around the premises.

...and on the break before changing into costume...on the brink of giving up :)

we learned how to roll our eyes at the same school of facial expression

this is the bride´s costume...

close-up just to show off the amazingness of that vest

sonia, ramo, me and my mum´s personal folk shirt

our breakfast place!! notice the tv screens

all sorts of painted plates and old style lamps

...open to the brightness outside (man, these were truly the hottest days of summer)

...and the water spray! this little lake is purely ornamental, but the venue is on the shore of a ´real lake´.

there: - thank you ramo for having us, all the best to you guys, thank you sonia for driving us, and everyone involved for the experience. c.
