summer`s almost gone, and other relevant quotes

"summer`s almost gone, and we haven`t gone out yet", someone said to me. and in that moment i knew i`d never go out with that guy, it was a case of breaking it by spelling it out, while (disingenuously? who knows anymore?) retaining a trace of hope. not yet. but soon. except not, because summer is gone.
and not getting the thing you want while there`s still a glimmer of possibility to get it, that`s the saddest thing in the world, for one moment.
a shudder.
so days are still warm (today 27C) but nights are harsh, and everything i didn`t do comes back to haunt me on a midday of an already-wasted end of summer day.
i didn`t eat enough icecream, and soon the cremerie will close. well i can never eat enough icecream, but that`s beside the point. i never went to the pool after all (the pool available to me is on the other side of the park). i never got a bike.
all the walks i haven`t taken.
all the people i didn`t meet.
all the summer shows i`ve missed.
but it can`t go on like this for long, so i have to shake it off.

you just knew that the jean talon public piano would be something special, right?

the plaza st-hubert stores are really controversial from all i`ve hread. people generally hate the sad uniformity of cheap chinese merchandise, of cheapness, of immigrant bargain, the sadness of bad brides`dresses and dollaramas and payless shoestores all gathered under one arcade. i see this point so well - but i still go to the renaissance friperie, and i sometimes use the st hubert area to cut through to beaubien. there are things to see here, is the truth. maybe sad things, but...things. and here`s a surprise: this gratuitous seating space, in a tiny attempt to make it better.

the cafe on the corner is called "aux derniers humains" - also worth mentioning.

and because my mind goes like this...(fickle? ADD?) i thought "la loi de la foi" went very well with "besitos de quesito". i have not tried these snacks, ok! just thought they were fun.

this brick wall, behind jean talon market, going toward the neighbourhood of petite-patrie.
i think it`s a very good illustration for facebook, par example. or i dunno, for this blog. maybe i should have it as a front page - too bland though.

i peeked into a private yard! well the door was open, otherwise i wouldn`t have dared. these are the kinds of yards that appear in design magazines - all polished and hidden out. i`m so used to ramshackle charm on display, i forget this is montreal too. but not for me.

solid build of a church, so petite italie! (note to self to go in!!! apparently it`s got great frescos!)

and clear proof of the sense of humour prevalent in this place.

more proof of...i dunno, assuming an identity? the bookstore was closed when i found it, so i couldn`t go in just to test whether it is a soap store :), or this is just irony. in any case.

alright, i`m stumped here! this church is an apartment building! i`ve looked from all angles - you can`t say it`s not a church amd you can`t say it`s not inhabited. maybe they redid it into living quarters

i took this one for the bird! and i like the sound of "piccola italia" much better anyway.
this is close to jean-talon again. walking around it`s hard to know which side is getting in and which is getting out of the neighbourhood, huh. apparently the jean talon market is considered included in petite italie though? so what`s my neighbourhood again?? gah.

so, in the market. i don`t think i want to know how often people have asked "what kind of plant/tree is this?"

all of montreal.
still.
