the white stuff
i like snow, at least at first. i used to wait for the first snow when i was a kid...but i think i've accumulated enough awareness to know how boring and annoying it will become later on, especially if winter drags on and on. so i don't wait for it any more - i just know it will come.
it snowed a bit on tuesday, but just random wet flakes that barely settled. and then of course, today, just as i wasn't looking (just as i was writing a post about how it's not snowing, or something....) ta-dah!
another thing i like is surprises. i went to the window to look outside and :) :) :)
another thing i like is to see the shadow of the falling snowflakes falling on the settled snow.
i had the opportunity to see this tonight because, yes, i had to go out. not to simply admire the winter wonderland, i really had business to attend to, people!
another thing i like is when snow sits on tree branches, thicker than the branch itself - ridiculous!
the place i was going to was the theatre, for an "open doors" night which was in fact a charity of sorts. we saw some...music, and not much else...which was our decision and time management in the end, but was ok. we saw the various nooks and corners of the theatre in a way in which you rarely get to see them otherwise.
there was this window on the upper floor with a good view to the freshly-lit cathedral square
another thing i like is when the snow is wet enough for snowballs and making snowmen. montrealers, i love you, but can you do this with your snow? eh?
aaand another thing i like is to write kirillics on cars. i have all the necessary ingredients to practise now, but maybe just waiting for the snow to stop.

and the trademark "carmen wuz here" sign on the bus window |

i'm not a fan of those blue lights, man, from down in the street they are so cold they look pretty sinister to me. from up inside, it looked better. |
and to prove that i really went to the theatre, here's the "cafe" side where we sat for a bit. sure looks better than it felt |
