non-matching (mostly in the plateau)

i left Montreal in the middle of last week, in weird weather, summery but rainy. anyway, i think everything plant-and-flower-wise is caught up already. i´ll also miss a whole bunch of festivals, but i´m OK with just knowing they´re happening.
looking back on late May and early June, my fondest and funniest memories don´t have corresponding pictures. there´s chasing the cat in the neighbours´bushes, there´s having tea at midnight at the swings. also an evening walk on st. bernard when all elderberry flowers were in bloom and kids were swarming the icecream shop and everybody was out on patios and i fell in awe again with summer in the city.
these are just some small extra takes:

continuing my obsession with picnics in the park: this was taken late May, when we managed to check out (and off the list) two different parks in one afternoon. some trees in bloom, some in various states of foliage. i was wearing sandals, leggings and bare shoulders. a heady mix.

and we caught a procession coming up on st-urbain. i´ll venture to say it may have been italian, but not sure.

the new resting space, with hammocks and everything, that splays along st denis. under the disapproving glance of that graffiti gentleman over there. the downside to this, of course, is the amount of construction it has involved on this same route, complete with blocking or bottling traffic.

this is for people who don´t think squirrels are the cutest - or for people who have plants outside. i like squirrels, but i´m aspiring to starting up a planter too, so right now i´m conflicted

i love this new mural i saw on Marie-Anne, so ¨bohemian community¨!

roses! these pink-fuchsia ones have been very plentiful in the plateau this June. also in the background a jasmine bush. my only gripe is with the honeysuckle, so far i´ve only seen the non-scented type (with slightly more reddish flowers)

i´d seen this planter long ago (almost 6 years, actually) and now i´ve been passing it daily on my way to work - it cheers me up every time.

patio of a restaurant in mont-royal. it´s full of terasses everywhere, of course, but i like the extra colorful ones, with their plants and cozy details. i think i might have even stopped here last summer at some point.
(also: i forgot there´s the soccer cup going on, my country´s only been in it for one hot minute. but Montreal is a very soccer-friendly city, so i´m only imagining the crowds some bars must be attracting these days)

vertical gardening in the plateau. it´s so overwhelming to the eye, and so hard to photograph

a self-respecting back alley must have back alley cats, of any possible kind

in summer, i always wish i could stop time. but it´s still ticking...and that´s the beauty and torture of it. today is the longest day of the year, from this moment on it´s going downhill again :)

coming up, free furniture days

...and traveling. i miss my cat...i´ll be back soon, cutie!
