here's a tree for you

trying to reconcile the bleakness of the season with good holiday vibes radiating toward me mostly through facebook and such. it's still winter even if not cold, and this kind of blows my mind. if it were summer and cold, it would not feel like summer. sigh.

have been a bit too lazy for words lately, reasons include:
- laziness being in my nature
- being burnt out from end of semester
- being annoyed that it's raining on christmas instead of snowing
- not having anything that would really qualify as news (really, you want to hear about how my exams went?yeah didn't think so. you want to hear about how i'm sleeping at odd hours and am conflicted about marathoning series? (pro: too spaced out for anything else; out of fanfiction. con: am not a tv watcher; feels more acutely like wasting time than when i read anything, even gossip magazines.) well, you just did.)
- photos harder to take in winter with my old battery, which keeps dying fast
- already took all the photos of crazy neighbourhood decorations last year, so now it feels a little samey, except there's no snow :(

so i keep complaining that this is the least christmassy christmas ever. i went to romanian church and they went through 'our father' in english!!! my parents carolsing me with a non-religious carol! it's raining and 5 degrees and the winds are blowing like beginning of april. baaaaah

at the same time (that's the spirit, no?) i'm trying to keep to traditions by eating immoderately and by actually having a christmas tree in the house. welcome adulthood, i think this is the first tree (=not branch) that i'm buying to adorn on my own. environmental qualms aside (i do have them), i'm proud of it and so here's a pic:

and some foods, to complete the cheer:

this is me right now, writing this: natas are the best christmas food ever.
from a few days back: traditional supermarket sugar pie
from waaaay back, at the end of my exams (ok, 2 weeks ago) - latino brunch with the hispanoablantes at 'los planes' (that is a pupusa! for the record)
teddy bear tree at the mall
musical trees in the Plateau - i've seen them in a couple of places - they have the notes attached for you to ring or beat or tap a carol!
and the snow that fell this time (when i didn't have time for it) was really wet, so a multitude of snowmen emerged in those days. (am still hoping for new year's eve snow)
zen through the hard season. still only the beginning.
